There are so many revision guides available to purchase and often it can be confusing which one might be the best for your course.
The first thing to do is to purchase a revision guide for your exam board. This is so important because often different exam boards have different content. You could well end up revising something that isn't needed or worse, missing something that is.
Below are revision guides, and links to where to purchase them aswell as an explanation of the guide. These are our recommended revision guides in decending order, but, as long as the course is correct, and exam board checked, it is up to you what you purchase.
You do not need to purchase all the guides beneath your course. However, where we think that you should purchase a 'bulk' or 'combination of guides' we have indicated so.
1.
This is the ultimate support to your course. It will support you in both the coursework and exam and fully explains all topics with example questions and activities. It is set out in a clear way, but does have more text than images.

2.
A more condensed version of the above book with less support for the coursework. This book has far less writting, and more information graphics and images.

You are studying GCSE Computer Science OCR J277
1.
This is a fantastic text book and from what we have seen, and we have read them all, this is by far the most easy to follow and thourough. There are activities, exam questions, links to other areas of the specification and worked examples.

2.
This book is produced by Hodder Education, OCR's official publisher. From that perspective it is good and the writter is an exam writter for OCR. However, there are some areas of the specification not covered and there are lesson worked examples. Even though that is the case, it is still an excellent book to support you.

A great little pocket sized pack of revision cards that test your understanding of the whole specification
Purchase this instead of either of the above books and not inaddition to. This is a good book and students like it. It is by the publisher collins and so students have informed us it has a similar layout to their Science revision guides, however, there are some inconsistencies with the specification and it isnt accredited by OCR
A book from Hodder, OCR's official publisher to support coding in Python. This book will work if you like reading and then acting on what you ahev read. If you prefer to watch a tutorial or follow a video, this book will not be very useful to you
1.
If you do nothing else whilst on this course, buy this book. Do not buy the 'My Revision Notes' version because it lacks a lot of content and information. This book will support you through all five of the units and will become so tatty you will be ashamed to be seen with it. But at the same time, you may struggle to leave the house without it. It is that good!
